Of course, you can go into the nearest super market and buy yourself some hummus, but it’s way more fun to make it yourself. Especially since it does not take much effort at all.
What you need:
570g chickpeas
1 lemon
2 garlic cloves
2 el of tahin (sesame paste)
1 teaspoon of salt
3 el of extra virgin olive oil
½ teaspoon of paprika powder
A blender
How to prepare:
1.Squeeze the juice out of the lemon and cut the garlic cloves into tiny pieces.
2.Puree the chickpeas, lemon juice, tahin, garlic, and the salt together in a blender.
3.Process until the mixture is well blended and creamy.
4.Pour into a bowl and drizzle some olive oil on top of it.
5.Garnish with paprika powder.
Tip: hummus lasts about 10 days in an airtight container in the fridge. If you want it to last longer, freeze in some extra so you can enjoy it at a later date!
Tip: this is a basic hummus recipe. Of course, you can add other ingredients as well, such as sun-dried tomatoes, feta cheese and spinach, etc.
Tip: hummus goes great with all sorts of recipes and ingredients. We have shared a recipe for wraps where this home made humus is one of the stars of the show
